We are currently using ten on Merchant of Venice (LD Rick Fisher) at the Almeida Theatre and they have been fantastic in terms of quality of light and colour, and ease of use (once you get past the faff of the various frosts and filters). Admittedly we're using them on a very blue and gold set in relatively bright colours, so its not very easy to compare them directly to the rest of the S4s in the rig but they more than hold there own in terms of punch. Now we just need to come up with a way to afford them!! (many thanks to ETC for the long term loan - we will miss them)

Really looking forward to using the source 4 lustre 2s on How to Hold Your Breath at the Royal Court.  Will report back what they are like - but if Neil austin likes them then I suspect I might.....

The technical debate behind the relative efficiencies of tungsten and LED lighting equipment bursts into the open in latest issue of the Association of Lighting Designers' Focus members magazine.

ALD chairman Peter Mumford is specifically looking at comparing a standard ETC Source Four with a Lustr LED version - read the responses from the ALDeco expert panel in their entsust.co... - and add your own thoughts!

Declan Randall is now distributing Anchor-Bands in the UK. These recycled rubber bands are used instead of LX tape/cable-ties etc to secure cabling/multis to a bar or truss etc.

You can order them from Declan's dedicated website, which can be found at www.anchor-band.co.uk!

I was very pleased to be able to chair an introductory meeting yesterday between PLASA and the Carbon Trust. The meeting was organised by :entertaining sustainability to begin to explore ways that ground-breaking, lower-energy products can be promoted and incentivised in a way more on par with their commercial counterparts in, for example, retail and commercial sectors.

The meeting took place at London's Shaftesbury Theatre, and also included representatives from some of the concerned organisations, including White Light, A.C. Entertainment Technologies and ETC. We'll keep you up to date here and elsewhere on how things progress....

I see that a company called Lites will be exhibiting an LED HPL retrofit lamp on their stand at PLASA London. Could be interesting on a number of levels - particularly for all those ETC Source Fours used architecturally....
