:event description

If you're involved in make-up, then you might want to know about this. A nationwide organic health and beauty weekend within the Small Changes, Big Difference campaign: this September’s focus on all things organic.

Taking place on 7-8 September 2013, the aim of Organic Beauty Weekend (#OrganicBeauty) is to increase awareness of organic health and beauty products and their benefits.

On 03 June, Peter Melchett, Soil Association Policy Director launched the Weekend at the Organic and Natural beauty show. Peter raised concerns at the number of products increasingly labelled as ‘natural’ ‘nature inspired’ or ‘botanic’ but have a scary and often dangerous list of ingredients that can be found in products such as oven cleaner, anti-freeze and in some cases have been banned in other forms - such as toys, but are in our bathroom cabinets.

We are calling on the health and beauty industry to be transparent and not greenwash products that would not be certified as organic but are marketed to customers as natural and in some cases 100% organic. At the same time we are calling on retailers, suppliers and producers of organic products to join the #OrganicBeauty weekend on the 7-8 September. This national event, led by the Soil Association will enable consumers to engage with retailers, try products, receive special offers and find out about certification. We’re keen to play our part to debunk the junk we have found.
